As warm up for the planned Nationwide Antiracist day action organized by Mannheim Bundnis gagen abschiebung, refugees together with an Activist of The Voice embarked on a spontaneous protest at the Diakonie Point store at 12noon in Mannheim.
The protest was initiated by the refugees in their struggle against mishandling by the German state as they call for support from The Voice Refugee Forum and other Networks.
The refugees rebuke being prey to exploitation a second time as they imagine the undignified hospitality from Diakonie in this discriminating practice with the German state.
The few refugees who represented the plight of their fellow oppressed in the Lager displayed placards that stated the following;
Point Store as Diakonie Hospitality for Refugees, We are Humans and not Criminals, We are here because you destroyed our Countries, Stop the persecution of refugee, Money instead of packaged food, Abolish Asylbewerberleistungsgesetzt, Stop arbitrary handling and hatred against Refugees etc
The responsible Officer at the Point Shop “Mr Brookshof” responded to the refugees call for cash rather than packet food stuff as he express their position of having no power to change the situation.
After an intensive deliberation, Mr Brookhof excused himself for a telephone conversation lasting about 5mins and came up with an offer of increase in the food Point to solve the problem of insufficient food. To this offer, the refugees denounced any form of compromise and requested Mr Brookhof to communicate their complaint to the appropriate persons or authority.
The last words from the refugees were;
We await soonest response otherwise we will be left with no option but to protest Diakonie`s undignified collaboration with the German State.
