The VOICE Berlin and Refugee/Migrant Communities in and around will be meeting to discuss the planning of decentralized events commemorating 30 years of existence, in October 2024.

You are all invited to join us in the preparations for the upcoming commemoration of 30 years of existence of the oldest Refugee/Migrant self-organization in Germany, The VOICE Refugee Forum (https://thevoiceforum.org/about).
When we started in 1994 as The VOICE Africa Forum, we never imagined changing the political landscape in Germany. By bringing thousands of refugees and migrants from all works of life together we put our VOICE on the agenda of resistance against the different forms of human rights abuses including racism, racialized police brutality, the apartheid Residency obligation law (Residenzpflicht), the fight for working permits for all and against the voucher (Gutschein) systems in Germany. Two of our main goals in the last 30 years have been to fight against deportations and social exclusions in all their forms in Germany, Europe, and the world over. Deportations are a murderous form of colonial injustice and the continuous upholding and maintenance of white supremacy structures and their institutions. Above all, in the past 30 years, we have mobilized, established, and motivated hundreds of refugee/migrant communities that are now autonomous and speak for themselves without much influence from the White German left albeit with strong resistance. The fight for total autonomy continues.
Together with The Caravan for the Rights of Refugees and Migrants (thecaravan.org), our resistance fights resonate not only within Germany but the world. It will take us years to recount our stories and experiences but we have documented many of them on our homepages and different social media platforms.
The commemoration of 30 years is not a celebration but rather a step toward setting the pillars of a new stage of our resistance. To discuss our continuation, we need to analyze and reflect on the past. Our reflections have been ongoing. Many activists have also recognized our changing strategies and the process of reevaluated objectives.
Please join us in making this possible. We call on all activists who have ever worked with us or have been in connection with us over the years to join us for discussions on the way forward. The VOICE Refugee Forum has always been a pace-setter in almost all the Refugee/Migrant Campaigns in the last 3 decades and we are only just taking another leap forward in the struggle against this monstrous capitalist regime whose aim is to destroy us all. For that, we need your support in every way possible.
